Tenth consecutive honor recognizes SPTS’s dedication to continuous improvement in accident prevention and employee wellbeing at work

NEWPORT, UNITED KINGDOM, 28 April, 2022 | SPTS Technologies, a division of KLA Corporation, and a supplier of advanced wafer-processing solutions for the global semiconductor and related industries, today announced that it has received the President’s Award for its tenth consecutive Gold by the Royal Society of Prevention of Accidents (RoSPA) Occupational Health and Safety.

The RoSPA Awards scheme is the longest-running of its kind in the UK, and it receives entries from organizations across the globe, making it one of the most sought-after achievement awards for health and safety (H&S) worldwide. Organisations receiving a RoSPA Award are recognized as being world-leaders in health and safety practice. Every year, nearly 2,000 entrants vie to achieve the highest possible accolade in what is the UK’s longest-running H&S industry awards.

In 2021, SPTS continued to implement a range of safety protocols to combat the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, while also adhering to normal accident prevention processes to protect the health and safety of all employees, which ensured the business remained operational and the transmission of the virus was prevented where possible. Employees were encouraged to adopt a hybrid working system, enabling SPTS to limit the number of employees on site. For those employees on site, SPTS continued to implement measures such as handwashing and temperature screening stations at all entry points, bi-weekly lateral flow testing and deep cleaning regimes.

Additionally, the development of a new process to improve control of hazardous substances was fully completed. This 3-year project has included the introduction of an intranet-based COSHH Management System which serves as a register and ‘one-stop’ storage location for safety data sheets and COSHH risk assessments, thus ensuring important safety documentation is readily available to employees and external agencies in the event of an emergency.

Dan Collins, general manager of the SPTS division, said, “We have always been dedicated to a high level of continuous improvement throughout our organization and providing a safe work environment for our employees. As COVID restrictions begin to lift, I take particular pride in how we have met the unprecedented challenges of the past 2 years, because ensuring employee safety is always our top priority.”

Julia Small, RoSPA’s Achievements Director, said: “This is a fantastic and well-deserved accomplishment. All our award entrants demonstrate their unwavering commitment and passion for keeping people safe at work. By receiving this recognition SPTS Technologies join like-minded businesses and organisations worldwide, who represent the very best in their approach to Health and Safety. I would like to add my personal thanks for all the work that it has taken to secure this well-deserved award – congratulations to all those involved, who champion and drive up Health and Safety standards every day. You are a fantastic example to others in your sector.”
