Free your MEMS devices from stiction, moisture, and corrosion. MVD thin film coatings – already protecting 15B devices
SPTS will be hosting their latest technical webinar on Thursday 22nd February 2018, to present our Molecular Vapor Deposition (MVD) technology, and how MVD coatings can be used to improve the yield and long-term performance of many types of MEMS devices.
This seminar will introduce specialized coatings for manufacturing MEMS and related devices. This will include hydrophobic and anti-stiction coatings, and very thin, transparent films for moisture barriers and corrosion avoidance.
While films for these applications have existed for some years a slew of new requirements such as a move to higher bonding temperatures, new packaging formats, smaller device geometries, more rigorous specifications, higher aspect ratios, deployment in harsh environments (including in-vivo) and longer lifetimes are stretching the capabilities of traditional approaches.
With the acquisition of Applied Microstructures and its Molecular Vapor Deposition technology, SPTS is able to deliver production-proven solutions to meet these new requirements. This Webinar will describe MVD technology and its unique ability to create extremely uniform, conformal films and their use in manufacturing MEMS devices.

David is a Product Manager at SPTS in charge of MEMS applications of MVD coatings. He joined SPTS in June of 2013 when SPTS acquired Xactix Inc. where he was President for 11 years. Previous to XACTIX, David was president of a Design Automation Startup company and received his PhD. in Computer Engineering from Carnegie Mellon University.
